The Nissan Qazana Concept

Nissan designed the Qazana concept as a smaller brother to its Qashqai urban SUV. Inspired by dune buggies, Nissan separates the headlight and signal light casings on the front. Nissan better pack them in now, while it can.

The first teaser of the The New Nissan Qazana was a simple sketch which pointed our imagination to expect a 2 door crossover with suicide doors and wide wheel arches as well as huge wheels. Since the sketch we have been eagerly awaiting the launch of the new Nissan.

The Nissan Qazana Concept

Nissan says that the significance of the Qazana concept should not be 'underestimated.' While it may look too radical for a production vehicle, Nissan says that a small crossover is on the way and the Qazana points to that very future. Nissan says the five-door crossover will lead to a production model in relatively short order, with assembly beginning in early 2010.

The Nissan Qazana Concept

Qazana reflects future Nissan in this class which, apparently, will not be limited only one hatchbacks. Nissan Qazana is a small crossover which at length concedes only 4 centimetres Kia Soul (4060 mm against 4105), and on width (1785 mm) and height (1570 mm) and at all almost does not copy Korean car. Qazana use many elements of design with rounded, such as the Murano and Qashqai. This can be seen on the curve and ban Fender bonnet.

The Nissan Qazana Concept

We're not entirely sure if (and/or how) the big-fendered, narrow-greenhouse look will translate to Nissan's planned production compact crossover, and we're quite sure that the rear-hinged suicide doors won't see showrooms when the Qashqai receives a kid brother. For now, we're enjoying its novel lighting (including the pair of crazy large front driving lamps and the fender-ridge daytime-running lamps, along with well-integrated boomerang tail lamps) and red-velvet cake interior.

The Nissan Qazana Concept

This Qazana concept, could signal a complete new direction for Nissan's next B-segment car. Ultimately, if the company is really brave, its production version might replace the B-segment Micra altogether.

Motorcycles were the inspiration for the inside of the Qazana, as is especially apparent in the center console. Designed to offer accessible, practical family transportation, NV200 is a three row vehicle, with sliding side doors for easy access to the rear. All the doors are electrically operated and for safety reasons the rear pair can only be activated once the fronts have been opened. The roomy interior can be configured differently to accommodate up to four occupants and is designed to be flexible, comfortable and convenient, with lots of storage space, which is essential for families on the move.

The Nissan Qazana Concept

The Nissan Qazana looks like nothing else on the road - and, in this case, that's a good thing. Created by Nissan Design Europe in London and said to be inspired by beach buggies and motorbikes, the four-passenger Qazana looks playful and entertaining.

The Nissan Qazana Concept

Designed to be a compact but high-riding city SUV, the production version of this concept car will be manufactured at Nissan's Sunderland plant in the UK in 2010.

NISSAN QASHQAI 2.0

The Top Gear Team said....

Sod it. the auris is awful, the Qashqai superb. Following last month’s feature on two very different approaches to the same marketing dilemma, both cars have arrived in the UK and come straight to our office. I wanted to like the proper hatchback and denounce the charlatan pseudo SUV. To see someone stem the flow of decent handling and functional family car to half-arsed style-statement. No such luck. Where the Auris is dull, the Qashqai excites; where the Auris is flimsy, the Qashqai is solid. In effect, where the Qashqai says tomorrow, the Auris says yesterday.

The first car we got on British plates had the entry-level 1.5-litre turbodiesel, a peaky but eager little number whose modest 105bhp is bolstered by a decent 177lb ft of torque, providing a surprisingly effective surge of acceleration in a car that seems improbably large for its powerplant. And despite not being that quiet, the end result for the basic diesel Qashqai is one of refinement, quality and softly-spoken class. Damn.

The New Seat Ibiza Cupra

The New Seat Ibiza Cupra
The New Seat Ibiza Cupra

Less than six months after its launch, the new Ibiza range has expanded with the arrival of two new versions that combine distinct sports character with the commitment to environmental sustainability. In the first, innovative design and technology join character and exclusivity in the Ibiza Cupra.

At SEAT, they believe that a car should move the driver in more ways than one. The sportier new Ibiza is an adventure in power, comfort and technology.

The 0 to 62 mph time is an entirely respectable 7.5 seconds and the top speed cracks three figures - 135 mph to be precise. On paper the petrol engine has the edge on top speed and acceleration but such comparisons can be misleading because the diesel engine gets a six-speed manual 'box while the petrol makes do with five cogs.

This combines suspension settings tuned for the keen driver with an intelligent power steering system that not only adjusts the amount of assistance according to driving speed nothing particularly novel there but also considers the position of the wheels and how quickly the steering wheel is being turned.

Mated to a five-speed manual gearbox, the three cylinder 1.2 petrol delivers a decidedly 'green' 42 mpg on the combined cycle, producing just 149 g/km of CO2. SEAT's new ECOmotive variant is one of only two cars eligible for the Group A tax band - the other being VW's Polo Bluemotion.

With more torque than a Boxster S, SEAT's new Ibiza Cupra is a convincing hot hatch. SEAT offers a 1.8-litre 20v turbocharged petrol engine in the Cupra which has more power (176bhp to the 1.9-litre TDI's 158bhp) but less wallop (181lb ft at 2000rpm).

The attractive looks of the Seat Ibiza Cupra come to life in its unmistakeable compact silhouette, which provides a perfect synergy between a fiery sporty nature and the functionality, roominess and highest safety standards required to adapt to any need. Also the interior conveys the sporty looks that are typical of all the Seat models. At the wheel of the new Seat Ibiza Cupra, the driver immediately knows it is not just another car, but a distinctly race-minded vehicle.

The instrument panel has two newly-designed dials and includes a screen between the two containing Bluetooth telephone functions. Calls are handled by controls on the steering column, optimising driver-vehicle connectivity.

The interior features a red, white and black colour scheme, with the trim all black, the instruments picked out in white with red highlighting on the air vents, indicators, and stitching on the wheel, seats, headrests, gear lever and hand brake. The seats themselves feature the Cupra logo writ large into the sculpted backrest and the Cupra logo also features on the sports steering wheel. SEAT couldn't resist the inclusion of the ubiquitous metal capped pedals.

Overall, the Seat Ibiza Cupra is a stylish and desirable hot hatch - no matter what fuel it runs on.

The new sporty Ibiza Cupra with its 180HP 1.4-liter turbocharged and supercharged four-pot isn't due to arrive in U.K. showrooms for a while yet, but those interested can take a virtual spin of the car with a racing game that is available for iPhone and iPod touch owners. SEAT claims that in the three weeks that the game has been made available online, more than a quarter of a million people downloaded it to their iPhones and iPods. The company also said that in the summer, it will release an updated version of the Ibiza Cupra game with more cars, circuits and competition models.

The New Renault Clio RS 200

The New Renault Clio RS 200

The New Renault Clio RS 200

The New Renault Clio RS 200

The Renaultsport Clio is one of our favorite hot hatches, and it has been given a bit of a mid-life makeover. The Clio RS 197 is now the Clio RS 200 and is available in two forms - the Clio Renaultsport 200 Cup and the Clio Renaultsport 200.

New Renault Clio RS features the 'Sport' chassis which, like the car's acoustic performance, has been upgraded with a view to delivering an even higher standard of comfort. A range of appointments make this new sporting model from the Renault Sport stable truly unique, including a broad selection of body colours, interior trims, upholsteries (including leather) and aluminium alloy wheels.

New Renault Clio RS accelerates from standstill to 100kph in just 6.9 seconds and covers the 1,000m standing start in 27.3s. The top speed of 225kph is 10kph higher compared with that of the former version.

Power is provided by the normally-aspirated 2,0-litre lifted from the Clio RS. This four-cylinder unit develops 145 kW at 7 250 r/min and 215 N.m of torque at 5 500 r/min. Power is transferred to the front wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox.

In response to customer demand, the suspension settings for both the standard car and the hard core, Cup set-up have been revised. To minimise weight, Clio Renaultsport 200's independent steering axis front suspension employs aluminum components and guarantees precise handling and outstanding traction whatever the conditions. The rear suspension is based on that of Clio 2009 and features a programmed deflection torsion beam which has been uprated by 25 per cent to complement the efficiency of the front's independent steering axis layout for precise, immediate turn-in.

The front end takes after a similar look to the new Megane, and like the Clios before it, it does without any kind of spoiler, instead relying on a fully functional rear diffuser to help with the aerodynamics. The diffuser reduces lift at 130km/h by as much as 40kg.

The revised design of the rear lights extends the waist line across the hatch, while the uncluttered approach to the design of the central part of the rear bumper further emphasizes the new Clio's dynamic stance. The reversing lights and fog lamps are positioned low down and to the extreme corners of the rear bumper. The whole body has been widened and early cars were a little tail happy in the wet.

New Renault Clio's original lines have been revised with the accent on more athletic, telltale curves. The more aggressive front end incorporates an F1-type aerodynamic splitter and a generously-sized, low-positioned air intake, the mission of which is to cool the naturally-aspirated 2.0 16V engine (147.5kW/203hp). The sills, extractors and wider front and rear wings all serve to highlight the sporty calling of New Renault Clio RS which features Renault Sport's new styling identity cues with the Renault Sport Design Pack's two-tone colour scheme based on a choice of Gloss Black or Cold Metal Grey for the front bumper moldings, exterior mirror housings and diffuser. The aerodynamic enhancement gives the car an even meaner look, while customers can choose from a wider variety of look-at-me colors, contrasting with either black or anthracite-finish trim.

New Clio RS 200 will be launched in the UK in May 2009 so why not book yourself a Test Drive.
