The New Jaguar C-Type

The Jaguar C-Type (also called the Jaguar XK120-C) was a racing sports car built by Jaguar and sold from 1951 to 1953. The "C" designation stood for 'competition'. Considering that Jaguar have recently stated that they wish to push the brand further up market, the New Jaguar C-Type will be aiming to cause a stir with the competition - Porsche Boxster, Mercedes SLK, BMW Z4, the Audi TT and the Nissan 370Z. Jaguar's owner Ratan Tata has made it clear that he wants to expand Jaguar's sports car offerings beyond the scope of the current XK, and the C-Type model will bring Jaguar back into the spotlights and place it where it belongs.

Auto Express says the Jaguar two-seater will borrow styling cues from Ian Callum's XF, with such highlights as a mesh grille, LED headlamps, thin tail lamps, and a power bulge in the hood, a steeply raked windshield, muscular haunches and short overhangs.

Whilst taking styling cues from the XF, the driving dynamics mirror those of the XK. The new addition to Jaguar's line-up is suspected to feature rear-wheel-drive, stunning design, a fabric roof and an impressive engine line-up.

It is thought that the New Jaguar C-Type will come in multiple engine configurations, including a 3.0-liter V6 developing 235 horsepower and a 5.0-liter version generating 380 horsepower, similar to those on the XF. Additionally, the manufacturer might also introduce a 3.0-liter diesel twin-turbo unit, with maximum output going as high as 272 hp. Even the base six-cylinder engine should provide 0-60-mph acceleration in around 7.0 seconds. The engines will be mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with steering wheel mounted paddles, which is a nice touch to the C-type's racing heritage.

The new C-Type will be made of a lightweight aluminum to ensure that the new C-Type with be light, agile and speedy, exactly the qualities you need to make a top performance sports car.

This Boxster rival, along with a replacement for the legendary E-Type and an Audi R8-style supercar, are on the drawing board, and would be expected to arrive in 2012 at the earliest, so Jaguar fans will have to wait a little longer to test drive the New Jaguar C-Type.

Tom Fletcher from McFly Visits Grange Brentwood

Tom Fletcher from McFly, together with his girlfriend Giovanna Falcone
Tom Fletcher from McFly, together with his girlfriend Giovanna Falcone

Tom is a talented songwriter who sings and plays guitar for the highly successful McFly along with the other band members - Danny, Harry and Dougie.

Grange Brentwood were pleasantly surprised when Tom walked into the Showroom one day in August 2009. Mark Butcher was the member of the team who greeted Tom, Mark said That he "recognised him straight away... My 4 daughters are big fans. Tom actually came back to the showroom with Giovanna his girl friend to meet my girls and presented them with a signed CD each, he also bought Danny from the band to meet them they were delighted."

Tom originally was interested in buying an Aston Martin, but after visiting his parents one day, felt he couldn't justify the purchase when they had an ageing Vauxhall. He decided as a surprise to treat them to a 58 plate Jaguar X Type Jaguar 2.2 SE d saloon, as he knew his Dad had always wanted a Jaguar. Tom was specifically after a diesel for fuel economy.

Tom and Giovanna told Mark that Tom's Mum and Dad were very emotional and delighted when he presented them with the keys.

Tom is driving a Mini Cooper at the moment. He said he is not ready for an Aston Martin yet, but maybe he will visit us again at Grange Brentwood when he does treat himself.

The New Jaguar XJ

The New Jaguar XJ

The New Jaguar XJ

At Jaguar it has been their mission to create and build beautiful fast cars. The XK, XF, X-TYPE and now the all new Jaguar XJ they say “brings the exhilaration of driving to life”. The new XJ was unveiled on 9 July 2009; however it won't actually hit the Jaguar forecourts for a few more months yet, although the dealerships are registering people's interest now to keep them updated with the launch.

A quick historical recap of the Jaguar XJ - The Jaguar XJ is a luxury saloon sold under the British Jaguar marque. The XJ was launched in 1968 and has served as the Jaguar flagship model for most of its production span which continues through to today. The original model was the last Jaguar saloon to have had the input of Sir William Lyons, the company's founder.

Carrying through the visual style of the recently released XF saloon and XFR sports car, this radical XJ is aimed squarely at a new generation of Jaguar buyers. An innovative new panoramic glass roof is an integral part of the all-new XJ's design concept, enabling the car to have a lower, more streamlined roofline, while dramatically enhancing the feeling of light and space inside.

Rear seat passengers enjoy plenty of leg room provided by the extended wheel base (LWB) and can relax in the sumptuous leather seats surrounded by a stylish combination of wood, polished metal and leather. Rear seats are electronically adjustable and four-zone climate control and multimedia controls ensure every occupant travels in comfort. The supercharged V8 adds sports suspension and R braking system.

Fuel economy and emissions are also outstanding, with the diesel-powered XJ returning combined economy figures of 40.1mpg and CO2 emissions of 184g/km. Fuel economy in the diesel is impressive thanks to the car's lightweight aluminium construction. Rivals may feel more advanced but the XJ's old-school charm remains central to its appeal.

With a 520-litre boot the New XJ can accommodate two large suitcases, great for short breaks in the country. A great excuse to take it for a spin on a few challenging roads with nice bends to test the remarkable handling and agility.

Three trim levels are available: Luxury, Premium Luxury and Portfolio, beyond which lie two top-of-the-range models: the Supercharged and Supersport versions. Don't think for one minute the 'basic' model will be lacking in niceties though, included in the standard package is leather, SatNav, cruise control, interactive voice control, rear parking aid, 400W sound system with hard disk drive and media hub, Bluetooth and a very acceptable set of 19” alloys.

Well, it's clear which ever trim level you choose, your New Jaguar XJ is going to be a very sleek and sporty car.

Paul started with the company at the age of sixteen as an apprentice technician. He has progressed through to Master Technician, Workshop Controller and Assistant Service Manager. I am certain he has a great future ahead of him with the opportunities available to him within Cambria.

Amongst his rewards is a trip to Las Vegas.

Is it a Citroen DS3 GT or a Mini Cooper?

Is it a Citroen DS3 GT or a Mini Cooper?

Is Citroen's new DS3 ready to take on the Mini? Lately, Citroen has been making a good job of impressing us with their new designs of Car. They really seem to have been getting the design and engine power spot on and producing really fun car cars to drive. It started with the magnificent 2003 C-Airdream coupe, the 2005 C-Sportlounge, and the extraordinary low-slung luxury C-Métisse sedan of 2007.

The DS3, DS4 and DS5 will be companion models to the C3, C4 and C5. Each will have their own sheet metal and their own USP. They won't have to appeal to the masses and won't be built down to a price. Well, not such a low price.

Is it a Citroen DS3 GT or a Mini Cooper?

DS stood and continues to stand for a new approach to automobiles and the future. CITROËN is taking inspiration from its design DNA to strengthen the positioning of its new product line. The range instills the different spirit, that the name DS inspires. Hence the distinctive model lineup will be called DS3, DS4 and DS5. DS: Different Spirit. Expect the GT version to take it a step further with an even stiffer set-up.

What you see here is more than just a styling exercise. According to early reports, the concept, which is officially called the DS3 Inside. "The Mini is our benchmark for fashion and design," says Budar, "but for handling, we want to go our own way with the DS3. A Mini is a toy but it's a bit tiring for every day. We will still have some comfort with our car. OK, for comfort the DS3 won't be as good as the new C3, but the sportiness will be at a much higher level. All the springs, dampers, anti-roll bars and bushes are different. It even has a smaller steering wheel."

Is it a Citroen DS3 GT or a Mini Cooper?

Inside the DS3 features leather and climate and has a sort of modern twist on a traditional interior (they couldn't have picked up some ideas from the Fiat 500 and the MINI - surely?!).There are a set of decent looking seats with a sort of bracelet-link sectioning. The steering wheel is small and the seats are set quite low. The dash flows right across the cabin and features a lot of gloss black (the 'in' thing for design this year, it would seem). The onboard navigation system is roumoured to be maps that will offer aerial photographic images, something that's impossible for DVD-based sat-navs to provide because it takes up too much disc space.

The Citroen DS3 GT has a tough track to follow with the Mini Cooper. On looks the DS3 is holding its own with its massive wide arches, rear wing spoiler and pumped up bonnet vent and body kit it certainly looks the business but what about its engine and chassis? Under the vented bonnet it looks likely that Citroen will install the 1.6 liter turbo from the Peugeot 207 GTi and Mini Cooper S. Performance should be similar on paper, with 0-60mph in around seven seconds and a top speed approaching 135mph.

Is it a Citroen DS3 GT or a Mini Cooper?

Citroen's focus isn't only on opulence, though. Eco-friendly stop-start technology will be offered as standard across the range, while Peugeot-Citroen's diesel-electric hybrid drivetrain is set to debut in a DS model.

It has a chance of reviving some of Citroen's quirkiness, which stood it in good stead for many a year, and it will doubtless offer a more supple ride than either the MINI or the Alfa.

Is it a Citroen DS3 GT or a Mini Cooper?

As for pricing, the DS3 illustrates the positioning; it will cost more than the replacement C3, obviously, but will undercut the Mini, its main rival. The DS3 doesn't hit the dealers until spring 2010, so Stay Tuned!

Aston Martins New Baby - The Cygnet

Aston Martin Cygnet

Aston Martin Cygnet

Prepare to be amazed as Aston Martin reveals its latest creation - the Cygnet. A city-car that's smaller than a Ford Fiesta. So why has Aston Martin gone from supercars to a super-mini? It will instantly become the world's smallest super-luxury saloon and represents Aston's most radical model departure in its 90-year history.

The company has identified that around 30 per cent of owners have small cars such as the MINI or Smart ForTwo in their garages, using them for short journeys to and from city-based offices. There has never been a wider range of hot hatchbacks on sale from frantic city cars to 300bhp, rally inspired models. Aston martin aim to offer their customers a very luxurious Hot Hatch which is less than three meters in length, its flexible package can accommodate up to four people, providing owners with a new dimension of versatility.

Aston Martin is preparing a small car concept of its own based on of all things the Toyota iQ. Word is it will still be powered by the Toyota engine, a 998cc 3-cylinder that makes all of 67 horsepower. The luxury commuter concept, which Aston Martin claims will 'offer customers a distinctive, intelligent and exclusive solution for urban travel in style and luxury' is actually based on the diminutive urban runabout and was created in collaboration with the Japanese automaker.

Aston won't be drawn into revealing details of the Cygnet's interior, but promises the changes inside will be even more extreme that the tweaks outside. So we can probably expect the same attention to detail as you'd get on the DBS, with a leather-clad cabin featuring the very best materials, along with an ECU (Emotion Control Unit) that plugs into the centre console, replacing a traditional key. According to Aston Martin, the cygnet will offer great fuel efficiency, a compact size, Euro NCAP 5-star safety rating and the prestige of the company's luxury brand.

Unfortunately being produced in small numbers has put them out of reach for most people in fact the Aston Martin Cygnet will only be offered for sale to existing Aston customers or to those who place an order for of the company's better-known and more expensive wagons. The New Cygnet car is specifically aimed at the one-third of existing Aston owners who already own a Mini-sized car. So the Cygnet is intended to act rather like a yacht tender, doing the school run or nipping down to the shops, saving the real McCoy for those weekend dashes down to Zermatt or St Maxime.

So squash those dreams of owning a cheap luxury city car because it's just not going to happen as you do need a parent in order to obtain a wee cygnet.

Although it's still in the concept stage, the green light for production of the Aston Martin Cygnet is expected to be given before the end of the year. Aston Martin expects to build between 1000 and 2000 cars a year, with earliest cars earmarked for sale in the UK and Europe where the iQ has won a five-star NCAP safety rating. Cars will be sold exclusively through Aston dealers.

The New Lotus Exige

The New Lotus Exige 2009

For those Lotus enthusiasts who can't wait for the replacement Esprit, or just want a harder, faster more focussed track-biased version of the Elise then Lotus has released the second generation Exige; with a maximum power output of 260bhp and 0-60mph can be achieved in less than four seconds.

Four high capacity injectors and an up-rated fuel pump add additional fuel under hard acceleration or continuous high speed driving. A lightweight flywheel is fitted (giving even greater flexibility and response to the gear change), a sports-type clutch plate and heavy duty clutch cover transfer the engine power and torque to the lightweight C64 six-speed gearbox (with an aluminium casing) - with the same perfectly spaced ratios as the Lotus Exige S.

Lotus has had plenty of experience with small capacity turbos with the Vauxhall VXR220 Turbo. Like many blown cars it makes rapid progress but in a series of surges. Lotus, long time masters of emerging technologies, sees no such conflict between the need to clean up its exhausts and the desire of its customers to enjoy themselves. In fact, it sees these aims as entirely complementary, and it has even built a car to prove this. Lotus has adopted this standard engine for the Elise and standard Exige, and it can work as it should.

Fuel economy, at 24 mpg city/29 mpg highway, is quite respectable. Fuel economy is rated at 12.4 and 6.5 liters/100 km (city/highway) - which works out to 19/36 mpg. The combined rating is 8.7 liters/100 km or 27 mpg.

Gear change shift lights similarly remain hidden until required.

The New Lotus Exige 2009

Additionally, the Exige runs on Yokohama A048 rubber-pretty much racing slicks with a few grooves-and their grip even on public roads is immense. On dry roads, at least.

You can even specify such niceties as air-conditioning, electric windows, carpets and a digital sound system, not to mention colours such as Chrome Orange or Krypton Green.

Warning symbols are secret until lit, keeping the instrumentation free from visual clutter and distraction until necessary.

On the racing track is where the lightweight, supercharged 09 Exige shines. From the driver's seat the track orientated launch control allows you to determine the engine revs you wish to use during a standing start on the track. Having programmed that limit, it will not be exceeded when you then hold down the throttle and sidestep the clutch at departure from the line.

Lotus says the Exige's aerodynamics and conservative rear spoiler offers a whopping 45kg of down force at 100mph - a figure that rivals thoroughbred racing machines. The fastest Exige S dismisses 0-60mph in 4.1 seconds and reaches 100mph from standstill in 12.8 seconds.

Few vehicles, aside from racing cars, motorbikes and extreme theme-park rides, can pull this amount of g-force under acceleration, braking and cornering. This gives a safe, but fun (even exhilarating) experience that you can only get from such a finely honed sports car. Exige models are in a league of their own being instruments of pure driving bliss.

Global Reveal of the All New Jaguar XJ

Global Reveal of the All New Jaguar XJ

9 July 2009 - Jaguar Cars tonight officially unveiled the all-new XJ car at the Saatchi Gallery in Chelsea, London.

Hosted by Jay Leno, one of the world's best-known chat show hosts and a renowned car enthusiast, the launch of the new Jaguar flagship was attended by an invited audience that included public figures, business leaders, celebrities and media.

Jaguar Cars Managing Director, Mike O'Driscoll, commented: "These are truly exciting times for us at Jaguar. The new XJ is truly beautiful, exhilarating to drive, and with its bold, enlightened approach to design, it meets the challenges of our fast-changing world. It re-imagines the ultimate sporting luxury car."

The all-new XJ is available to order now (dependent on market), with the first customers due to receive their cars in early 2010. Prices start at £52,500 for the standard wheelbase 3.0-litre V6 diesel luxury.

Sleek, sporting and sophisticated, the all-new Jaguar XJ brings a daring new spirit to automotive luxury - it offers a seductive mix of striking design, breathtaking performance and engineering without compromise.

Building on the success of the new XK and XF models, the introduction of the all-new XJ is a landmark for the revitalised Jaguar brand. Clearly positioned as the company's four-door flagship, it extends the appeal of the XJ to a new generation of customers.

"The new XJ is a thoroughly modern interpretation of the quintessential Jaguar. Its visual impact stems from the elongated teardrop shape of the car's side windows, that powerful stance and its wide track. It is the most emphatic statement yet of Jaguar's new design direction", said Ian Callum, Design Director, Jaguar Cars.

An innovative new panoramic glass roof is an integral part of the all-new XJ's design concept, enabling the car to have a lower, more streamlined roofline, while dramatically enhancing the feeling of light and space inside.

Standard- and long-wheelbase models are available from launch. The long-wheelbase offers an even more sumptuous and refined environment for rear-seat passengers with an additional 125mm of legroom. Whichever the wheelbase, the XJ's 520-litre boot can swallow two large suitcases side-by-side.

The all-new XJ's cabin is a marvel in its own right, blending elegant, contemporary design with the comfort, luxury and unmistakable sporting style of a Jaguar. Chrome and piano black detailing provide an eye-catching contrast to the beautifully-crafted leather and veneer surfaces.

To complement the all-new cabin design is a level of choice in colours, veneers and leathers not seen before in a Jaguar. Three specification levels - Luxury, Premium Luxury and Portfolio - allow the customer to tailor the car to suit their tastes. Beyond this are the Supercharged and the top-of-the-range Supersport, the latter providing the ultimate expression of performance and luxury, with a specification that includes a leather roof-lining, semi-aniline leather seats and veneers with laser inlays.

All of Jaguar's acclaimed new ultra-efficient Gen III petrol and diesel engines will be available in the XJ. The 3.0-litre V6 diesel, 5.0-litre naturally aspirated V8 and 5.0-litre supercharged V8 have already proved their breadth of ability, and they are joined by a 470 horsepower version of the supercharged engine. Fuel economy and emissions are also outstanding, with the diesel-powered XJ returning combined economy figures of 40.1mpg and CO2 emissions of 184g/km.

Proven Jaguar dynamic technologies are taken to new levels in the all-new XJ. Features such as air suspension, Adaptive Dynamics (continuously variable damping), Active Differential Control and quick-ratio power steering deliver the blend of responsive, dynamic handling and refined, supple ride expected from a Jaguar.

Inside the car, advanced new technologies have allowed Jaguar's designers to create an environment more akin to a state-of-the-art living space than a simple car cabin.

Stunning, 12.3-inch high-definition Virtual Instruments complement an innovative, Dual-View technology 8-inch Touch-screen that can project DVD movies or television programmes to the passenger while the driver views vehicle functions or follows satellite navigation.

Premium surround sound options include the top-of-the-range 1200W Bowers & Wilkins system, which is comparable in audio quality to the best in-home entertainment. Advanced infotainment features also include hard drive-based audio and navigation systems, and comprehensive connectivity for portable audio and video devices via the powerful Media Hub.

The all-new XJ also takes a new approach to sustainable motoring. Constructed using Jaguar's aerospace-inspired aluminium body technology, the XJ is lighter than its rivals by at least 150kg which significantly improves performance, handling and economy, while delivering increased strength, refinement and safety.

The lightweight aluminium structure - with 50 percent recycled material - underpinned by a lifecycle approach to vehicle design and manufacture, enables the new XJ to minimise its carbon footprint. This alone creates a potential saving of three tonnes of CO2 per vehicle, compared to a bodyshell made from new aluminium.

The all-new XJ offers extremely attractive cost of ownership with impressive fuel economy and emissions performance across the range; high predicted residual values and 15,000-mile service intervals. These benefits are just some of the results of Jaguar's obsessive attention to detail during product development. Processes such as the use of the latest 'virtual' technologies to implement 40,000 quality-specific assessments are one of the reasons that the Jaguar brand has received numerous recognitions for vehicle quality.

To register interest in the all-new XJ, customers should Call or Email (please see contact details at the top of the page).

Seat Leon FR

The Seat Leon has added the sportier FR version to its range. The Leon maintains the essence that made it an object of desire for those who believe in driving when it was first released on the road.

Seat Leon FR

Already arguably the most dynamic looking hot hatch, the arrival of the new FR sees the Leon step up another gear in the visual department with a host of sporty design touches. The changes include the side mirrors, new rear window (which is the whole width of the hatch now), revised air intakes and a smaller front grille. The taillights are smaller, too. There is a finely tuned sport suspension, 17'' Albea alloy wheels, a new front bumper in body colour, a double chromed exhaust pipe, a gearshift knob and three spoke leather steering wheel with the FR logo, and molded sport seats with the exclusive FR upholstery and FR logo.

The bigger news lies beneath the bonnet, with a fettled engine range. Conversely, this same VW Jetta, with the upcoming TDI engine, should come in at about 140 horsepower/ 236 lbs of torque. It is a 2.0 liter, 4-cylinder (.5 liter smaller and one less cylinder than the base-model Jetta), yet the diesel only loses 10 horsepower and improves on the gasser by 66 lbs of torque. And although it is rather peaky, the diesel packs plenty of punch, and its torquey nature means you don't need to change gear too often. The petrol Leon FR gets a new engine, too, in the shape of the new 208bhp 2-litre TSI which is seemingly the same engine as in the new VW Golf GTI. There's also a 158bhp 1.8-litre TSI petrol if you want performance from the next rung down the Leon ladder.

You can feel the difference technology makes in the new Seat Leon FR. It comes in the form of the ultra-new XDS - standard on the Leon FR - an advanced traction control system that is linked to our Electronic Stability Program (ESP), providing each wheel with just the right amount of pressure to maximize traction and improve response throughout the curve. Meaning, the wheels of the Leon FR can go at different speeds when they need to - keeping you on the road in dynamic fashion.

Seat Leon FR

Consumption in normal road use and a city connected with the air conditioning was 7.3 l/100 km. To travel 300 km on highway and two-way road at an average of 106 km / h with some changes of pace because of traffic, has spent 7.0 l/100 km. Consumption on the combined cycle is also minor (7,8 liters per 100 kilometers compared to 7,9 of the manual model).

Inside the Leon FR there's the new instrument cluster with new white dial design that glows a piercing red when the lights are on. The FR also has a new radio CD MP3 with controls in the steering wheel, 8 speakers and a combined USB/Aux-in port (CUP).

Of course being a Seat there are no real reliability issues. Seat is part of the VW/Audi group, and is assembled with the same care and competence. The Reliability Index says Seat perform better than most with respect to the frequency and costs of repairs.

Seat Leon FR

The boot release is the rear Seat badge, but once the tailgate is lifted, the Leon's decent sized 341-litre boot is exposed. It's not class-leading, but big enough for a couple of suitcases (fold the seats and space expands to 1,166 litres)

After test driving the Seat Leon FR you'll agree with Jeremy Clarkson; British speed limits need to be increased! The Leon FR will arrive in the UK in July 2009.

The Nissan GT-R

The Nissan GT-R

This model had dropped name Skyline and became simply the Nissan GT-R. Along with the name change, the car also had some other mechanical changes, especially under the hood.

Power will come from a twin-turbocharged V6 engine, with power rumoured to be somewhere between 400 to 450 horsepower, believable considering the size of the twin exhausts we saw on the prototype we photographed earlier this year in LA.

The Nissan GT-R

It'll do 15.4mpg in town, 31.0mpg while cruising and 22.8mpg on the combined cycle, plus it'll puff out 298g/km. A 911 Turbo, by comparison, will do (at best) 15/29.7/22.1mpg and emit 307g/km. It'll immediately transfer as much as 50 percent of the engine torque to the front wheels (the torque split for normal driving is 2/98), stabilizing the car without sacrificing speed. Official economy is recorded at 23.2mpg.

The gearbox means there's an absence of any hefty left-leg work, making traffic jams a doddle, and if you put it into auto then fuel consumption might even be respectable because it seems to shuffle into sixth gear before you reach 30mph.

The Nissan's handling balance is so spectacular that it registered 1.01g on the skid pad and romped through the slalom at an impressive 73.4 mph, about 3 mph faster than the others (and faster than the Ferrari Enzo). It'll reach 195mph too, if you've the space to do so. Just about everything comes as standard, so you'll not really want for anything on the 'basic' GT-R

The Nissan GT-R

Powering through the fast corners you can feel the tail stepping out a little, as intended, helping to settle the GT-R for the next straight. The grip is huge, but the constantly changing distribution of the torque between the axles and the solid, dead-accurate steering help the GT-R to talk to me, to tell me what it is doing.

The Nissan GT-R's functional styling utilizes advanced aerodynamics, offering a low coefficient of drag. GT-R's hybrid body construction combines steel, carbon fibre and die-cast aluminium, and features a low coefficient of drag of 0.27, while achieving high front and rear down force. Carbon fibre is used for the front end of the body structure, including the radiator support and the front of the engine bay, giving strength and lightness. The car is so quick it lapped Germany's famed Nurburgring track in 7:38, spanking a Porsche 911 Turbo.

In addition, the braking system has been updated with more rigid brake lines for improved durability, and the brake callipers now carry both the Brembo and Nissan logos. And the GT-R's state-of-the-art suspension has been returned with redesigned Bilstein's shocks with a new valve body design and revised spring and damper rates.

This car looks as though it means business on the road because of its aggressive-looks, with a taller boot spoiler, bolder front splitter, sculpted sills and small intakes and vents fore and aft of the rear wheels. To stand out from the rest of the sporty cars on the road, the SpecV comes exclusively in Ultimate Black Opal a unique purplish black.

GT-R's interior styling undoubtedly evokes the car's performance capabilities, but it is also highly practical, with readily intuitive, easy to use controls. The driver grips a small diameter, multi-function steering wheel trimmed in soft, hand-stitched leather also used on the gear shift lever and on the dashboard, centre console and door trims. Performance bucket seats, a console mounted starter button and a centrally mounted video screen that can display several pages of mechanical and driving information as well as navigation and audio complete the cockpit gadgetry.

The Nissan GT-R

The New Nissan GT-R debuted in 2007 in Tokyo. It will be the first GT-R available worldwide, entering the North American market for the first time. The Nissan GT-R has always been a showcase for the company's highest-performance technologies. Those features make it able to compete with other sports cars that are far above the hopped up Datsun's price range.

The New Volvo S80 DRIVe

Their new DRIVe series of engines and cars have been made to be as fuel efficient as possible with improved aerodynamics and wheel technology to improve CO2 emissions and reduce road tax.

Car dealers are required to have a label showing the fuel consumption and CO2 emissions of each different model on display, either on or near the vehicle. Fuel consumption figures will be expressed both in liters per 100 kilometers (l/100 km) and in miles per gallon (mpg). Car manufacturers like Volvo Ford, Honda, Hyundai, Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and many more continuously launch new car models and upgraded versions of existing cars to attract car buyers to buy new Greener cars with lower CO2 emissions.

Volvo Cars is introducing a new 2.4-litre 5-cylinder diesel engine in the Volvo S80. Sharing only the D5 badge and the five-cylinder configuration with the previous generation, the new engine is now Euro 5 compliant and is significantly more efficient than its predecessor. Its suspension settings were miles from finality, but the prototype did have four-wheel drive and the Yamaha-built V8 engine already seen in the most expensive XC90s.

The Volvo S80 also heralded the introduction of advanced new safety solutions such as inflatable curtains and built-in protection against neck injuries; Volvo's record on safety is second to none. Certainly, Volvo has built a reputation for solid engineering, reliability and excellent safety standards and has established itself among the top premium car manufacturers. The three core values of the Volvo brand 'define everything' that Volvo do now and will do in the future. Company motorists are a big target market as the four cylinder engines will enable drivers to get into a much larger more spacious car without the burden of inflated Benefit in Kind tax bills or high fuel costs. A typical 40% tax payer will pay just £158 per month for the 2.0D SE Volvo S80, falling to less than £90 per month for a 22% tax payer.

And whilst saving the planet and saving pennies is important, obviously you don't want to feel that you have traded off savings against quality and performance. After all, the comforting thought of saving the environment will wear off quickly if you are not driving a car which offers an enjoyable experience.

The V8 engine installation is certainly the biggest single news item about this car, but there's also a completely new 3.2-liter inline six-cylinder engine for those customers who don't want or need monster torque. The new six-cylinder, the largest inline-6 Volvo has ever built, is rated at 236 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque, great leaps above the old 2.9-liter engine. The S80 is an amazing car with exceptional ride comfort and performance.

Speed-dependent power steering is also an option in the new Volvo S80. The system provides more power assistance at low speeds, for example, to make parking easier. The handling is very sharp and the engine provides plenty of acceleration and speed, even at low revs.

The front of the Volvo S80 is more distinctive with a new grille featuring the larger iron mark badge, which is part of the more extrovert DNA as seen in recent Volvo models, including the new XC60 crossover. There is also new chrome detailing on the air intakes, lower part of the doors and under the tail lamps.

Inside, there's leather throughout inside, a floating centre stack is surrounded by a Silk Metal frame. Aluminum dials and a four-spoke steering wheel get a same finish. The dash flows into the instrument panel, creating an organic wave. The gauges are real metal with electronic readouts in the center, and the analog needles run on an inner ring. Even the turn-signal arrows fit into an arrow-shaped cutout in the gauge cluster.

Unlike other Volvos, the flagship S80 is a real luxury car. The materials are all soft to the touch, the leather is plush and the seats are ultra comfortable, likewise the New S80 DRIVe follows in its predecessors tire tracks.

Other options include navigation, rear entertainment, parking assist, chrome wheels, and run-flat tires. Volvo also charges extra for metallic paint - bah. It offers all the comfort of the others, and the gadgets and toys, such as the Adaptive Cruise Control and the electronic parking brake (very easy to use), at a considerably lower price. Parking the S80 is easy for a saloon and even though it is a larger car; the S80 has a tight turning radius and light steering.

The New Volvo S80 DRIVe executive saloon which will be available in the UK in summer 2009. Make a note in your diary and watch out for them arriving at the Dealerships.

Aston Martin Rapide

Aston Martin plans to introduce their new four door sports car in early 2010 to compete with the Maserati Quattroporte and Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class, along with the upcoming Audi A7, Porsche Panamera, and Lamborghini Estoque.

Designed by a team led by Marek Reichman, the new head of design at Aston Martin, it's a four-door concept car with four proper seats built on an extended version of the DB9's underpinnings. The VH architecture is at the heart of this manufacturing operation, its modular structure providing such inherent rigidity that it has given the company's designers and engineers the same levels of freedom as their predecessors, 50 years before. In today's marketplace, even low volume manufacturers like Aston Martin are governed by strict legislation and the need to balance power, weight distribution, handling and safety.

Based on Aston Martin's unique VH (Vertical/Horizontal) architecture, the Rapide combines the company's commitment to power, beauty and soul with space and practicality for every eventuality.

It was thought that the Rapide would post numbers that are in between the two Porsche Panamera V8 models. Those cars go 0-60 mph in either 4 seconds or 4.8 seconds, depending on which engine is chosen. However it has been confirmed that the Aston Martin Rapide will be powered by a 6.0 liter V12 engine that has been tuned, Aston Martin Rapide sports car may outputs 470bhp and 600Nm of torque. The Rapide's rear wheels are driven through a highly responsive Touchtronic gearbox.

Inside, the four-seat Rapide will be much closer in theme to a Mercedes-Benz CLS than to a Mercedes S-class.

On the outside, the integration of the rear doors, however, is done so subtly, so that they aren't obviously noticeable at first glance. The rear doors are 'swan wing' doors - rising upwards and outwards as they swing open enabling access to the rear seats.

At the front, the production car has lost the concept's quad air intakes, instead making do with a double-decker grille; whilst the rear features a redesigned bumper and boot lid, with a chrome strip running between the rear lights to split up the mass of bodywork on the rump.

Aston Martin's press materials call the Rapide a "four-door coupe." But because of the need for room for sedan-like seating, the Rapide's overall length is longer than that of the Aston Martin V8 Vantage and DB9 coupes. The Rapide is 250 mm longer and now is a full five meters in length (12 inches longer), and 40 mm taller and wider.

The Rapide is the epitome of Aston Martin's low-volume, high-technology approach, the synergy of modern methods and materials with traditional skills to create a new form of craftsmanship for the 21st century.

The Rapide will be the first Aston Martin to be built outside of Britain, with production being carried out by Magna Steyr at its plant in Graz, Austria. Production will start in 2010. The production version will feature a full-length glass roof and LED light bars on the rear end, two firsts for Aston Martin.

“Rapide will exceed expectations to deliver elegance and practicality in a form that will allow driving enjoyment and comfort beyond anything that exists today,” says Dr Ulrich Bez, “The Rapide will exist in a class all of its own, a true Aston Martin with the high performance and dynamic excellence that defines the brand, and a luxurious sporting grand tourer without equal.”
