The New Nissan Pixo

The New Nissan Pixo is due to be launched during April or May of 2009. So what’s all the fuss about, isn’t it just another New Car in a sea of many?

The New Nissan Pixo is a five door, four seat vehicle that's 3.56 meters long and has a 2.36 meters wheelbase making it an ideal city car which has a 1.0-litre three cylinder petrol engine that's good for 65 PS, making it an ideal runaround for out of city driving also.

Motorists all over Europe are seeking a car with excellent fuel economy and low emissions. Climate Change, often referred to as Global Warming, is considered to be one of the greatest
environmental threats facing the World today and cars that cut down on CO2 emissions are great for the environment. Currently, the average CO2 output of cars sold in the UK is 166 g/km. Obviously the average varies by type of car - luxury cars have a much higher average than city cars. The EU’s target is to reduce all emission levels to 130g/km by the year 2012. The New Pixo is Nissans protégé to meet these targets.

The new Nissan PIXO, a four-seater producing 103 g/km of CO2 and delivers fuel economy of 4.4 l/100km (64.2 mpg) on the combined cycle. The New Nissan Pixo will offer genuinely environmentally-conscious motoring at an accessible price. In fact these figures will position PIXO among the most affordable eco-cars in the small city car category.

The Nissan Pixo’s Power comes from a 1.0 liter 3 cylinder engine that can be mated to either the stander 5-speed manual, or the optional 4-speed automatic. The automatic option is among the first to be available in this class.

The Nissan Pixo looks similar to the Alto but differs in grille design and the headlight and a slight change in the tail-light. One of the most striking styling features is the bold treatment of the light assemblies, helping to give Nissan Pixo a distinctive character. The entire bumper and lower valence section is unique to the Nissan Pixo.

The new Nissan Pixo’s Eco rivals include the Hyundai i30. Hyundai have been taken back by the popularity of its little i30 (119g/km), which has a waiting list, and Hyundai have launched an even greener version, the i10, which will emit 99g/km. The Peugeot 107 (109g/km) looks likely to be the bestselling low-emissions car of 2008 in the UK. So the New Nissan Pixo has some stiff competition, but is holding its own with its minimal 103 g/km of CO2. When the Nissan Pixo is launched in Europe, the PIXO will wear the newly announced Pure Drive badge, which will help car-buyers to identify the most efficient models in Nissan’s range.

At launch, the Nissan Pixo is expected to be Europe’s most affordable automatic. Small cars are big news right now so there's no better time to launch an entry-level model. Nissan's Micra will be replaced in the not too distant future, but the new Nissan Pixo sits lower down the price scale again.

The Lotus Elise

The Lotus Elise
There is nothing better than driving a Lotus Elise, on a sunny morning on a deserted, twisty road, you will approach motoring nirvana. Lotus has cleverly matched the punchier engine with a close-ratio gearbox as standard. Lotus Elise comes standard with air-conditioning, antilock brakes and a CD audio system. But don't look for stability control or power steering on this sports car.

The Lotus Elise adheres to company founder Colin Chapman's four basic automotive design philosophies: It is lightweight for better performance; it is fun to drive; it provides a comfortable ride and exceptional handling; it is innovative. The Elise first went on sale in Europe in 1996 becoming the best-selling car in company history and creating waiting lists of up to one year to buy what the European motoring press has labeled the best handling car in the world.

Lotus Elise weighs just 860 kg (1896 lb). That is a very light car and Toyota’s 1.8-liter engine takes it 0-60 under 5 seconds. Weight is a big part of what makes this car work so well. The Lotus-designed lightweight chassis is constructed of epoxy-bonded aluminum and steel rear subframe wrapped in a composite fiberglass body. Lotus Elise This super lightweight roadster has the handling characteristics of a go-kart. The Elise comes equipped with a 1.8-litre four-cylinder that pushes 189 horsepower at 7,800 rpm and 133 pound-feet of torque at 6,800 rpm. The Lotus Elise has combined CO2 emissions of 177g/km and combined fuel consumption of 38.5mpg and it really is all the car you will ever need.

The Elise range already consists of the entry-level S, which is a sweetly balanced car that you could live with every day, and the more sporting Elise R, with its screaming engine. The SC sits between these two cars in character, though in reality it has a bit of both in its make-up. Following the demise of Rover and the subsequent loss of the K-series powerplant the Elise range has lacked an entry level model with the 111R and Sports Racer carrying on with the VVTL-i Toyota engine.

The Lotus Elise is a big leap forward for a car that has already been voted sports car of the year 3 years running. Sitting snug and low in the perfect driving position, you’ll feel the excitement build even before you start the engine.

As long as you drive with the hummingbird responses that formula cars and Lotus Elises demand when close to the limit, the car will tell you exactly what it's doing. In normal circumstances, a mildly brisk cruise down the coast there's enough grip in reserve that cornering becomes a simple swing of the wheel, and the limit is so high you need only pay attention to the scenery. When the definitive automotive history of the 20th Century is written, the Lotus Elise will be worthy of a lengthy footnote. Although the original Series I car was the version that broke new ground, the Series II is a more accomplished proposition. The Lotus Elise requires some care while accessing the cabin. It requires quite a climb but is made easier with the top down.

The Lotus Elises unique bonded structure endows it with chassis stiffness that makes the whole package such a fun car. It is it’s responsiveness to inputs and the way the car fits you like a glove that makes it so rewarding. The Lotus Elise is an extreme wake-up call to all sports car manufacturers; a large engine isn't always essential. The Lotus Elise is one of the best drivers cars around for both track use and on-road thrills.

The Lotus Elise in Hollyoaks

Hollyoaks is an award winning British television soap opera which was first broadcast on 23 October 1995 on Channel 4. The programme is set in and around the fictional Chester suburb of Hollyoaks and is centred on a local Higher Education college called Hollyoaks Community College; with the characters generally being in their late teens or early twenties. Since the soap began, the cast has expanded from just seven major characters to approximately 50 cast members. The soap is known for its young and glamorous actresses and its hunky actors who make the show compelling viewing.

However of late, they have been adding eye candy for the Jeremy Clarkson’s out there in the form of a Lotus Elise. Lotus was first established in the 1950s in the UK. Between 1960 and 1980 Lotus expanded rapidly producing fine road cars such as the Elan and being successful in many racing formulas including F1 and Indy. As you can imagine the Lotus Elise is a seriously sexy machine and which is sure to excite any avid petrol head.

The car was squeezed into the show when Warren offered to lend Calvin the alluring sports car to take his girl friend out for a spin, because she wasn’t very happy. Well a spin in a Lotus Elise would cheer anyone up wouldn’t it, once you had wriggled yourself inside it that is.

The Lotus that appeared in Hollyoaks was a white Elise convertible with a 1.8 litre engine that takes it 0-60 under 5 seconds. Lotus Elise comes standard with air-conditioning, antilock brakes and a CD audio system. It weighs just 860 kg (1896 lb), it’s as sleek as one of the Hollyoaks cast. The Lotus-designed lightweight chassis is constructed of epoxy-bonded aluminum and steel rear subframe wrapped in a composite fiberglass body. Weight is a big part of what makes this car work so well.

Sadly the car will not be featuring in the popular soap opera anymore because it is currently at the Preston Motorpark dealership looking for its next careful owner. If you’re a big fan of Hollyoaks or indeed Lotus, maybe you would be interested in owning the vehicle. Then you can feel the buzz not only of driving a Lotus Elise, but driving a famous Lotus Elise that members of the cast of Hollyoaks have driven in.

Does Britain Have A Major Role To Play In The Car Industry Of Tomorrow?

Only a handful of people alive today can remember when, at the turn of the century, the first all British designed and built car took to the roads.

Up until the First World War these early manufacturers including famous names like Ford, Humber, rover, Wolseley, Sunbeam came onto the market, but growth was rudely interrupted by the four years of the First World War and its resulting effects throughout England and Europe.

It took another ten years for the British Car Industry to recover and become Europe's leading car manufacturer but this was again to be interrupted by the 2nd World War which Europe and the World was to face.

Throughout its existence the Motor Industry has appeared to face a constant ten year cycle of peaks and troughs and so it was by 1951 that the Industry had grown to lead the world producing over 50% of all exported vehicles, however this was to last for a brief few years as European manufacturers recovered and the American giants of Ford and General Motors took major shares of the market.

so it was that during the next ten year cycle Britain slipped down the rankings and by 1960 had dropped to third place in terms of World Manufacturer, a position it was to hold for some five years.

Many of us can remember the many famous names which have disappeared forever or were swallowed up by the major manufacturing groups until this bubble was also to burst. Everyday names like Austin, Hillman, Morris, riley, singer, sunbeam, triumph, Wolseley were to become part of conglomerates which in turn were to suffer a similar fate and disappear.

Today the once proud and wholly owned British Industry is limited to an exclusive band of specialist manufacturers and designers producing or contributing to the design and production of highly specialised vehicles and the Country which was once
proud of its output for the masses now sees manufacture and production almost exclusively in the hands of American, Asian and European Groups - General Motors, Ford, Honda, Jaguar, the Mini, Nisssan, Toyota, Rolls Royce, Bentley manufactured in England but controlled overseas.

Each day the present financial climate brings new worries and fears for this once great industry and whilst we may design and contribute greatly to the Formula 1 industry, are we to see Britain's one hundred year history disappear and our children able only to remember just a few famous names form the past and recall one or two of the true great independent British survivors like Morgan or Bristol?

Part Exchange Your Car – Tips and Advice

Due to the fact that most of us own cars these days, when a decision to buy a new car is reached the part exchange plays a big part in any deal that can be done. This means that you sell your current car to the dealership and the amount given can then be taken off the price of the new car. In some instances you could use part of the money towards the new car and have some cash back, especially when financing the new car.

When you are trading your car as a part exchange, it is advisable to concentrate on the price difference between the new car and your current one. The difference you will have to pay will no doubt be the factor that helps you to go ahead with the new car purchase.

The difference may not necessarily be the price you would actually pay, as it could be the subject of negotiation, extra discount or even an extra allowance on the value of your current car, after a thorough appraisal by the dealer. It will also depend on any special offers applicable at the time, the condition of your current vehicle, the length of warranty and any dealer or manufacturer options and extras that may be fitted. All these aspects can be considered in obtaining a better deal.

The first impression a salesperson will get is of a customer who has looked after his car, and who has kept a record of the vehicle servicing and any other relevant documentation. His job of valuing your car becomes much easier and consequently he will be able to offer you a very fair price. Remember that an attractive, clean and well looked after car can justify a higher selling price to the dealer in question.

Dealers would normally give wholesale values for car trade-ins, taking into account the cost of reconditioning and servicing, and making the vehicle desirable for the next potential owner.

Most manufacturers also offer special option purchase plans on new and nearly new vehicles. Put simply, depending on the length of time that the plan is over (eg.24/36 months) the vehicle will have a manufactureres guaranteed future value, and this amount is deducted from the initial cost of the vehicle leaving the balance to be paid over the plans agreed months. This would mean that at the end of the plan you can either hand the vehicle back, ask the dealer for a trade in price, and should this be more than the future value use the difference as a deposit towards another new vehicle. Or you can re finance or purchase the remainder, (the manufacturers future value) .

The main advantage of this type of deal is to keep your monthly cost down and also protect against any rapid deterioration in second-hand car prices. Once the manufacturer has decided on your car's future value, the figure is guaranteed and you will have an accurate value should you wish to trade the vehicle at the end of the plan.

Trade-ins are vital in keeping dealerships in business; and buyers like them because the whole buying and selling process is made so easy for them. Moreover, most buyers are commonly satisfied with their trade-in transactions, and get a very good deal.

If you would just like an idea about the value of your car before you approach a dealership you can take advantage of online car evaluation websites. These sites have online forms that you fill in. Try to be as honest as possible to get the most accurate quote. The forms are easy to fill in and only take 10 minutes or so. They ask all sorts of questions about the age and condition of the car both inside and out. In most cases you will receive an email of how much your car is worth. You can then use this information as a guide when you do approach a dealer.

But important to remember, on line valuation sites do not buy trade-ins!

The New Volvo Ice White C70

The Volvo C70 helped launch a trend toward true hard-top convertibles when it debuted as a 2006 model, and it was an immediate sales success. In order to ensure harmonious lines both with and without the roof, Volvo's designers decided to first draw the Volvo C70 as a coupe. Only after they were satisfied with the result did they make the necessary adjustments to create a convertible out of the finished design. This summer sees the launch of the all new and very sophisticated Volvo Ice White C70.

The New Volvo Ice White C70 is an extremely sexy and glamorous car, a far cry from the same old family, “people carrier” image that is sometimes associated with Volvo. Thanks to the cutting-edge engine technology you can enjoy rapid acceleration, high torque, excellent fuel economy, low emissions, a selection of transmissions and much more.

The New Volvo Ice White C70 is a true convertible, converting from coupe to roadster with the press of a button. With a folding steel roof that deploys from its trunk, it converts from an open car to a closed one in just 30 seconds.

However the Volvo Ice White C70 isn’t just a convertible, it is also a beautiful coupe which feels luxurious to drive.

The Volvo Ice White C70 can be equipped with single or twin engines, and max. Roof down is equally good, with the large front screen doing an excellent job of deflecting the majority of the wind, keeping the passengers isolated from the majority of any buffeting and noise levels are surprisingly low. Comfort is excellent, with the fantastic front seats, and even rear legroom is good for a convertible.

The styling is brilliant, with elegant coupe lines, and the retractable hardtop is an engineering masterpiece. The cabin features comfortable seats, the latest in Volvo interior styling and fabrics, and a clever cubby behind the centre dash. The stereo sounds superb. Everything operates as it should, and it's a beautiful piece of work.

The New Fiat 500 Convertible

Fiat celebrates the launch of the New Fiat 500 Convertible this spring and from looking at it you can see how these charming little cars could easily be the next fashion accessory for the summer. The new funky Fiat 500 Convertible with its retro styling car work is exactly the same size as the basic Fiat 500 model with room for four people, half decent boot space and a sensible price tag.

The Fiat 500 is a small economy-car produced by the Fiat company of Italy between 1957 and 1975 and when re-launched in 2007. The Fiat 500 became an icon of the times. The car was a successor to the Topolino model interestingly Topolino means ’mouse’, small, cute and great for scampering around in. No great surprise then that the Launch of the New Fiat 500 Cabriolet is creating such a stir when you consider a car with this persona that has now been given a fully fledged window to the sky. No doubt it has set its sights on becoming an icon of the times again.

The New Fiat convertible has a rollback roof, which is similar in concept to that used by the classic Citroen 2CV and adds to the retro feel of the car, giving it its loud personality. Despite the rather simple targa setup, the Fiat 500 convertibles roof is also likely to be available with a power operated folding roof, so no mad scrambling to get the roof off and the wind blowing through your hair – Hold on to your hat!

To keep the folding system simple, the roof stacks on top of the rear parcel shelf, rather than slotting into a storage bin. That allows Fiat to retain the lower part of the existing hatch pressing and to hinge it from the parcel shelf.

By keeping the majority of the car’s body structure intact, engineers have avoided the need for costly chassis changes, and ensured that it will remains rigid and just as fun as the fixed roof version to drive. The novel ‘sardine-tin’ roof will also distance it from its main competitor the Mini cabriolet.

Power for the Fiat 500 convertible will be provided by either a 70 horsepower 1.2L or a 100 horsepower 1.4L. A more powerful Abarth edition is expected, although there are no current plans to offer the Fiat 500 convertible with a diesel power plant. All Fiat 500 convertible powerplants will come equipped with start-stop technology, a device controlling momentary engine shutdown and subsequent reignition. To this end, at every stop when shifting to neutral and releasing the clutch, the engine is switched off and then restarted simply by selecting a gear. The start-stop technology should improve overall fuel economy by about 8 percent.

The New Fiat 500 Convertible is available in three colours (ivory, red and black), this original soft top will be matched with several bodywork colour schemes, two of which have been conceived specifically for the new car, i.e. a brilliant Pearl Red and a special Warm Grey typical of sports supercars.

The new Fiat 500 represents outstanding value for money and positions the car well below its benchmark rivals. All told, its many special features make this new car one of the best turned out cabriolet models currently on offer in the city-car segment.

Toyota Highlander Hybrid – Breaking the Barriers

Toyota Highlander Hybrid – Breaking the Barriers
With great fuel efficiency and eco-friendliness the hybrid vehicles are slowly gaining popularity worldwide. The limited choice of hybrid options keep these vehicles with hefty price tags. Though these hybrid vehicles are costlier than the conventional ones, they are far more beneficial. The true fact is that it is worth to spend some extra cash in buying hybrid vehicles as you will be able to save a great deal of money in a long run. For example, the hybrid vehicles use fossil fuels and also give you great mileage. Hence you can save your money spent in filling gas to your vehicle. Toyota is a well known manufacture of hybrid vehicles. Recently Toyota launched a new SUV named “Highlander Hybrid” (New version of 08 Highlander Hybrid) with many advancements. The 2009 Highlander Hybrid seems to break all the limitations of the other hybrid SUVs available out there.

Highlander Hybrid – Power Unleashed

The Highlander Hybrid has proven that the hybrid vehicles needn’t be underpowered. The hybrid VVT-i V6, 24 valve engine delivers unmatched power to the Highlander. A test run of the Highlander hybrid proved to generate 208 hp at 5600 rpm, which most of the hybrid SUVs available today failed to deliver. The Highlander Hybrid was also able to develop a maximum torque of 247 lb.-ft. at 0-1500 rpm. Surprisingly, this powerful monster is easy to control. The power assisted disc brakes with ABS and EBD (Electronic Brake-force Distribution- only available in 09 Highlander) will offer great control even in the roughest terrains.

Unmatched Safety

Toyota has been providing ultimate safety features in all their vehicles. The Highlander Hybrid is no exemption. Toyota has included some of the best modern safety features in the Highlander Hybrid. Toyota refers the safety system of the Highlander hybrid as “Star Safety System” which includes Enhanced Vehicle Stability Control with a cutoff switch. As the Highlander is an SUV that has to be driven in rough terrains, it is equipped with the latest sophisticated traction control (TRAC). The Highlander Hybrid is also equipped with the regular safety features like airbags, side impact door beams and a collapsible steering wheel. The combination of “hill start assist control (HAC)” and “downhill assist control” makes the Highlander to be driven with ease in steep hills. With HAC “on”, even rookie SUV enthusiasts can drive the Highlander Hybrid in steep hills without backward rolling.

Great Looks

The 09 Highlander Hybrid grabs the attention of people with the multi-reflector halogen headlamps and the shiny unique hybrid grille with chrome surround. Toyota has thrown some eye candy to the door handles with a layer of chrome. The UV reduction windshield looks very classy. If you want to get the envy of other SUV owners you can opt for 19-inch 5-spoke aluminum alloy wheels with silver-painted accents which will add more beauty to the Highlander hybrid.

Buying the Highlander Hybrid

Alright, now we are sure that you will be eager to have a look or even buy the Highlander Hybrid. The only authorized seller of the Toyota Highlander Hybrid in the Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area is “Greensburg Toyota”. So what are you waiting for? Grab the keys of this unique SUV and experience the power along with becoming environmentally responsible

Toyota Greensburg provides Highlander Hybrid cars that are recognized as environment friendly and fuel efficient. The EPA and the US Department of Energy recognizes the Greensburg Toyota having the best gas mileage of any car on the market in the 2009 Fuel Economy Guide.
